Paradis Beach

Paradis Beach or Paradise: A Hidden Corner in Villajoyosa, Alicante.

On the coast of the Marina Baixa, very close to Alicante, is one of the most special and least crowded beaches in the Valencian Community: Paradis (or Paraíso) Beach, in Villajoyosa. This little paradise, as the name suggests, is a natural refuge where the Mediterranean Sea shows its most crystalline hues, palm trees sway in the sea breeze and waves gently break on the shore.

If you are looking for a quiet beach, away from the tourist hustle and bustle but with a unique charm, Paradis is your ideal destination. In addition, its easy access by car or by the Alicante TRAM (whose stop is precisely called “Paradis”) makes it a perfect option for weekend getaways or even for those who dream of having a second home near this magical corner.

Location and Access to Paradis Beach.

Paradis Beach is located in the municipality of Villajoyosa (La Vila Joiosa), about 30 km north of Alicante and only 10 km from Benidorm. Despite its proximity to very touristy areas, this small cove retains a relaxed and natural atmosphere.

How to get there?

  • By car: From Alicante, take the N-332 or the AP-7 in the direction of Benidorm, leaving towards Villajoyosa. There is a small car park nearby, although in high season it can be crowded.
  • By public transport: The Alicante TRAM line (L1) has a stop called “Paradis”, just before reaching the centre of Villajoyosa. From there, a short walk of about 10-15 minutes takes you directly to the beach.

Characteristics of Paradis Beach.

Unlike many beaches in the area, Paradis is not made of fine sand, but is composed of small rounded stones (callao), which gives it a wilder and more natural appearance. This type of flooring makes the water especially transparent, showing incredible turquoise and deep blue hues, depending on the daylight.

Size and Environment.

  • Longitude: Approximately 150 meters, making it a small and secluded beach.
  • Width: Variable, but generally not very wide, which contributes to its sense of intimacy.
  • Natural environment: Surrounded by small hills and Mediterranean vegetation, with some palm trees on the same shore, a rare detail in other beaches in the area.

Although it is not an urban beach, in summer it has a charming beach bar where you can have a cool drink while enjoying the sea views.

Water: Temperature and Colors.

One of the greatest attractions of Paradis is its crystal clear water, which changes in hue depending on the time of year and the time of day:

  • Spring and autumn: Blue-green waters, very transparent, ideal for snorkeling.
  • Summer: Intense turquoise tones, almost Caribbean, due to the clarity of the rocky background.
  • Winter: Although the water is cooler, it is still a deep blue, with stronger waves attracting some surfers.

In summer, the water is perfect for swimming, while in winter it can be cold, although some brave people enjoy a refreshing dip.

What can you see from Paradis Beach?

In addition to its natural beauty, from this beach you can see:

  • Views of the Peñón de Ifach (in Calpe) on clear days.
  • The skyline of Benidorm in the background, with its skyscrapers silhouetted against the sea.
  • Fishing boats and pleasure boats that pass close to shore.

A Beach to Disconnect and Dream.

Imagine having a house near this place and being able to escape every weekend to read a book under a palm tree, swim in crystal clear waters or simply listen to the sound of the waves. Paradis is that type of beach that invites absolute relaxation, away from the stress of the city.

Although it is not a white sand beach, its charm lies in its authenticity, its colors and its tranquility. If you are looking for a place where you can feel like you are in a small paradise, Paradis Beach in Villajoyosa is, without a doubt, one of the best options near Alicante.
